Ease of Enrollment

Sensor size determines the number of placements...

Effective user guidance in the enrollment process is a critical element for the stable operation of a biometric system. In some implementations, e.g., tiny fingerprint area sensors, the finger needs to be placed 15 or more times for enrollment. This can be annoying to users, especially when enrolling more than one finger.

The NEXT area sensor is an intuitive large touch sensor. It eliminates the learning curve typical for swipe sensors and the long touch sequence for tiny area sensors. A single scan or generalization with 3 scans is all that is required for a highly secure enrollment that can last the entire system lifetime.
