The digital identity market in Asia-Pacific is experiencing strong growth, expected to record a 19% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) over 2026-2031 (Mordor Intelligence). This is being driven by large-scale national ID programs, booming mobile commerce, and rapid adoption of digital wallets integrating payments and biometrics.
“It is really encouraging to receive our first public sector order in Taiwan and further orders from Malaysia,” comments Ulf Ritsvall, CEO of NEXT Biometrics. “We can see that digital authentication and identification is a growing market in Asia-Pacific, led by Government initiatives. Our solutions are bringing the speed, security and liveness detection that governments need to authenticate access to public services and enable national digitalization plans.”
The orders represent modest initial values for delivery in Q2 from existing inventory.
NEXT’s Active Thermal® technology uses both heat from the finger and 3D imaging to authenticate the user. This enables superior authentication speed and liveness detection to combat spoofing attacks, when compared with other fingerprint authentication technologies. The sensors also minimize energy consumption and deliver exceptional performance in varying light and environmental conditions.
The Oyster III plug and play fingerprint reader enhances security and streamlines logical access control, and Identity & Access Management (IAM), workflows by replacing slower, less secure sign-in methods. It is built to support the latest software and ensures compatibility with the new and existing hardware via the Windows Biometric Framework (WBF).
Over the last 25 years, NEXT Biometrics has shipped more than 10 million sensors. Its Active Thermal technologies are certified by entities including Aadhaar, FBI-PIV, MOSIP Compliance and NIBSS, and have been implemented in countries including Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, U.S. and Vietnam.
